Giving back to our communities
Sempra's vision is to deliver energy with purpose. As we modernize energy infrastructure, we want to also help build an inclusive economy, one that enables a fair playing field and vibrant future for everyone. With our vision, mission and values to guide us, we help fund initiatives in communities where employees live and work.
Across the Sempra family of companies, communities are supported in foundational ways. Giving at Oncor, SDG&E and SoCalGas includes a range of grants made in support of the environment, education, economic development, emergency preparedness, safety and other priorities. Additionally, Sempra Foundation, founded and solely funded by Sempra, makes strategic contributions to projects in California and Texas, and supports employees at certain Sempra companies by matching gifts of time or money to eligible 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

Sempra Foundation supports Engineers Without Borders USA to empower volunteer engineers and develop global infrastructure solutions.
With the Sempra Foundation’s help, underrepresented students will have the opportunity to build a brighter future by participating in the organization’s STEM Community College Outreach and Engineering Corps Program. Empowering youth in STEM
For more than 30 years, The Actuarial Foundation has helped unleash the power of math education among youth. With the support of the Sempra Foundation, The Actuarial Foundation's Modeling the Future Challenge empowers high school students to model real-world data, analyze risks and provide recommendations to address climate resilience issues. Bringing cleaner cookstoves to communities across Mexico
Sempra Foundation, founded and funded by Sempra, is helping to advance energy access and emissions reductions in communities across Mexico via a $1.1 million donation to Fundación Mozcalti, a Baja California-based nonprofit. The donation makes it possible to provide communities with clean energy assets, including cleaner cookstoves. When completed, the energy projects are expected to benefit 40,000+ people in more than 60 communities.
Bringing solar energy to border communities
For families in underserved areas along the Texas-Mexico border, electricity use can consume a disproportionate share of monthly budgets. To help these communities, Sempra Foundation partnered with Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) to install solar panels which will help reduce the financial burden of rising energy costs.
Advancing energy access in Mexico
Sempra Foundation partners with GRID Alternatives, the nation’s largest nonprofit solar panel installer, to bring clean, affordable solar power to organizations in Tijuana, Mexico. Once completed, these projects will result in clean, reliable energy and financial savings for the recipient organizations.
