Sempra takes the privacy and security of your personal information seriously. This Notice at Collection and California Consumer Privacy Act Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information relating to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Consumer Privacy Rights Act of 2020 and regulations promulgated thereunder (“CCPA”).

How Long We Retain Your Personal Information

We store your Personal Information for as long as needed or permitted based on the reason for which we obtained it.  We also retain personal information as necessary to comply with our tax, accounting and recordkeeping obligations, to provide you with the services you have requested, as well as an additional period of time as necessary to protect, defend or establish our rights or the rights of others, defend against potential claims, and comply with our legal obligations.  Rather than delete your Personal Information, we may de-identify it in accordance with the CCPA, by removing identifying details.  Once we do this, we will not attempt to reidentify it.

Sales and Sharing of Personal Information

The CCPA defines "sale" as disclosing or making available personal information to a third party in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration, and “sharing” includes disclosing or making available personal information to a third party for purposes of cross-contextual behavioral advertising. While we do not disclose personal information to third parties in exchange for monetary compensation, we may be considered as “selling” or “sharing” personal information under the CCPA because of our use of third-party analytics cookies. To the extent such activity is considered to be “selling” or “sharing,” we “sell” or “share” the following categories of personal information: identifiers and Internet or other electronic network activity information. We disclose these categories to third-party analytics providers for purposes of marketing and advertising and to better understand activity on our website. We do not sell or share personal information about individuals we know are under the age of 16.

California Residents’ Rights

The CCPA provides California residents with specific rights regarding personal information. Subject to certain conditions and exceptions, California residents have the following rights with respect to their personal information:

Right to Delete: You have the right to request we delete your personal information.

Right to Know (Access & Portability): (Up to twice every 12 months) You have the right to request:

(iv) a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you. For security reasons and to comply with the CCPA, certain highly sensitive types of Personal Information, such as social security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, and bank account numbers, will not be provided, but we will inform you if we may have collected them during such 12-month period.

Right to Opt-Out of Sales and Sharing: You have the right to opt-out of “sales” and “sharing” of your personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA.

Right to Correct: you have the right to request that we correct inaccuracies in your Personal information.

Right to Limit Use and Disclosure: You have the right to limit the use and disclosure of your “Sensitive Personal Information,” as defined under the CCPA. However, we do not collect, use, or disclose “sensitive personal information” beyond the purposes authorized by the CCPA, thus this right is not available.

Right to Non-Retaliation: California residents have the right not to be subject to retaliatory treatment for exercising and of the rights described above.

Right to Know, Access, Delete, and Correct. Requests to exercise the right to deletion, correction, access, and/or right to know may be submitted at https://www.sempra.com/privacy#personal-data-rights-request or by contacting us at (619) 696-2000. We will respond to verifiable requests received from California consumers or their authorized agents as required by law by matching the information provided against the information we have about you. If we are unable to adequately verify a request, we will notify the requestor. If we are unable to verify your identity after a good faith attempt, we may deny the request and, if so, will explain the basis for the denial.

Authorized agents will be required to provide proof of their authorization, and we may also require that the relevant consumer directly verify their identity and the authority of the authorized agent.

Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: To exercise your right to opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your Personal Information, you can manage your cookies and similar technologies through your browser’s “Settings” menu. The Settings menu can be found by selecting the three-dot menu (⋮), three-dash menu or other icon in the top-right corner or other location of your browser.
