Jeffrey W. Martin
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Jeffrey W. Martin is executive vice president and chief financial officer for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' more than 16,000 employees serve approximately 32 million consumers worldwide.
As executive vice president and chief financial officer, Martin oversees all financial matters for the company, including business development and major acquisitions.
Previously, from 2014 through 2016, Martin served as chairman and CEO of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), one of Sempra Energy’s regulated California utilities.
From 2010 to 2014, Martin was chairman and CEO of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power and its predecessor company, Sempra Generation. Prior to that, he was vice president of investor relations of Sempra Energy. He first joined Sempra Energy in 2004.
Before joining Sempra Energy, Martin was chief financial officer of NewEnergy, Inc. Also, he formerly served as corporate counsel at UniSource Energy Corporation and was an attorney at the law firm of Snell & Wilmer, LLP, where his transactional practice focused on corporate and commercial finance and real estate.
Martin currently serves on the board of directors of the California Chamber of Commerce and the board of trustees of the University of San Diego, where he serves on the executive committee and chairs the athletics committee. Martin also serves on the boards of directors for several Sempra Energy business units, including SDG&E, Southern California Gas Company, Sempra Midstream & Renewables, LLC, and Infraestructura Energética Nova (IEnova) in Mexico. Martin recently served on the boards of directors of the Edison Electric Institute, National Association of Manufacturers, and San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Martin holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas, El Paso, and a law degree from the University of Miami.
